Mermaid Hair – Batana & Rosemary Pre-Wash Oil

Batana oil is having a moment, and a lot of what shows up online is thin, pale, or heavily fragranced. Our Batana & Rosemary Pre-Wash Oil takes a simpler approach: real batana and rosemary as the focus, carried by jojoba, grapeseed, argan and black seed oils, plus vitamin E. Blended in small batches.

It is made for wash day. You work it through dry hair before shampoo so strands go into the wash already coated, instead of stripped. With steady use, hair tends to feel softer, look shinier, and show less of the breakage that costs you length.

Why real batana matters

Unrefined batana is thick, deep in colour, and smells earthy and nutty - some people say faintly like coffee. A clear, perfume-heavy oil is the one to side-eye. Ours keeps its natural colour and scent on purpose. We do not bleach it into something it is not.

What it does

• Softer wash days. Coats hair before shampoo so it is less likely to feel stripped and brittle.
• Moisture without the flat look. Rich enough for dry and textured hair; a little goes a long way when you focus on mid-lengths and ends.
• Smoother, shinier hair. Helps hair look glossier and feel easier to manage over a few weeks of use.
• A calm scalp massage. Rosemary is diluted in the blend - invigorating, not harsh.

How to use it

1. Apply to dry hair. Warm a small amount in your palms. Work through mid-lengths and ends, then massage a little into the scalp if you like.
2. Let it sit. Leave on for 30-120 minutes. Very dry hair can go longer or overnight under a wrap.
3. Shampoo out. One or two gentle lathers, then condition as usual.
4. Repeat 1-2 times a week. This is a pre-wash treatment, not an everyday leave-in. Give it several weeks of consistency.

Fine or low-porosity hair? Use less, stay on the ends, and keep it lighter at the roots.

Who it is for

A good fit if: your hair is dry, textured, colour-treated, or breakage-prone, and you want a real pre-wash oil.

Maybe not if: you dislike any oil feel, or you want a daily leave-in shine oil - that is a different product.
